The terms Architect and Architecture are old and well-known for buildings, gardens etc. In the Information- and IT-communities they are introduced for a number of purposes and reasons. SCIA identified a number of definitions for the term Architecture in Information and IT as shown if you follow this link.
To certify an architect requires a Body of Knowledge (in short: BoK). SCIA has identified a number of architects in the information and IT world. Each of these architects have a BoK. In these BoKs the "Knowledge, Skill/Competence/Ability and Being" of the resp. architect is described.

Certified Information, IT and IT-Business architects have to further their "Knowledge, Skill/Competence/Ability and Being" to stay certified. Therefore permanent education is required.
